In my latest series, I tried to capture my personal reactions to the Isle of Skye in Scotland by using strongly colored underpaintings and directional strokes of paint on the surface. I love the stark, raw dramatic beauty on the island. The sheer size of the mountains and the vastness of the open space are utterly impressive, and the skies always seemed to be threatening in some way, which adds to the drama of the landscape.
